The Magic of Autumn

The leaves are falling, the evening hours are slipping quicker into the night, the cool crisp air of autumn is setting in. I love every bit of it. For me, this has always been a magical time of year – the smell of the leaves, the crunch they make under your feet as you walk along, the old familiar pinch of the cool autumn breeze on your cheeks. This is what I live for.

After spending a long week working almost exclusively on Feral Moon content, the website, live stream and many other odds and ends, it was a real treat to take some time this weekend to get back to nature. To set aside all the “to-do’s” and obligations – to let my mind quiet itself, and just let myself get lost for a moment. Something that I aspire to do more of moving forward. It’s so incredibly easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle life tends to throw at us. It’s even quite easy to find contentment and comfort in a busy routine. But nothing, not one thing I’ve found, can get you fixed up, set the course right and refocus your energy quite like a nice hike in nature. Particularly during this time of year, for me personally.

In a world that seemingly insists on pushing us ever-forward into the mundane, repetitive and predictable – a world of superficial values and aspirations, nature remains ever-present. Forever there to remind us that, no matter how trivial mankind wants to make life seem, magic, mystery and intrigue still remain – waiting for us around the bend of a wooded trail, peeking through the dense forests, or tucked away in the ravines and valleys that beckon to us if we only listen. If only we can capture some of that essence, harness it, and share it with the world through our creations.
Take some time for yourself. Go explore. Let nature guide your thoughts. And most importantly? Keep creating, friends. Stay in touch with the magic. May you have a wonderful week ahead.
